Funded Programs

Proceeds from the Women’s Hall of Fame luncheon benefit the Women’s Research and Education Fund (WREF). The Fund is a non-profit organization founded in 1989 to promote equality and justice for women in Westchester County through training, advocacy, and recognition of their achievements. WREF is separate from the Office for Women. Examples of WREF-supported programs include the development of a video to teach women their legal rights in court relating to domestic violence; public hearings on the impact of welfare reform on women and children; the development of educational materials in English and Spanish on domestic violence; the distribution of scholarships to Westchester women, and many more.

WREF has made grants to the following:
  • Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC): to assist women with financial and business development support to create/expand their business through a Lanza Microenterprise Awards Program
