WREF Women's Hall of Fame ScholarshipsThe mission of the scholarships awards program is to assist young women achieve their future goals. It is part of WREF's commitment to the future of girls by helping them be all that they can be. See the list of scholarships and winners for 2013.
The majority of scholarships are given out at the Women's Hall of Fame in March during Women's History Month. There are several levels of scholarships which can be applied for and they include: corporate, foundation scholarships some of which target specific areas. These include: The Merrill Lynch scholarship which targets a disabled student, the Visiting Nurse Services scholarship which targets student nurses, Con Edison Environment/STEM Career Awards, The Liz Andrus Avon Woman of Courage Award for a survivor of domestic violence who has accessed services through Westchester's Family Justice Center, Eileen Fisher award for a survivor of domestic violence, and MasterCard Global Business Leadership and Inspiration Award. There is also Stock Family LLC for a student pursuing a career in health care and The Lanza Family Foundation which targets the students in the Mt. Vernon high schools as well as participants in the Her Honor Mentoring Program. Following are applications specific to each area of scholarships. Please read them carefully, fill out the applications and send to the WREF address. REMEMBER – THE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE DIFFERENT AND SOME RELATE TO SPECIFIC SCHOOLS. APPLICATIONS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED IF THEY DO NOT FOLLOW ALL OF THE CRITERIA OUTLINED. Scholarships provided by local corporations and foundations with amounts from $2,000 to $5,000 -- Women's Hall of Fame Scholarship Application Scholarships provided by the Lanza Family Foundation in the amount of $5000 - 2013 Scholarship Application (for the Mt. Vernon, Nelson Mandella and Nellie Thornton High Schools - who will be attending a Community College) |
